In what many Miami Dolphins fans would consider as an unsurprising move, Jim Caldwell is reportedly leaving the Dolphins without even having played a single minute of football for the team. This ends what was a bizarre situation for all of the parties involved.

According to ESPN's Cameron Wolfe, the veteran head coach has been away from the team since July  2019 due to undisclosed health reasons. He didn't coach a single game under head coach Brian Flores as he was unavailable for the remainder of the season. Given the situation, it was understandable why the Dolphins allowed the veteran coach to walk away without coaching a single snap for Miami

The 65-year-old head coach was supposed to take care of the quarterbacks and develop Josh Rosen into a respectable pass-caller that the Dolphins can use. He was known throughout the league for developing quarterbacks, so the move was supposed to be a match made in heaven. However, the team was unable to make use of his talents as his medical issues kept him out of the team for the rest of the season.

The Dolphins were quick to find a replacement for him, though. According to Wolfe, Miami hired West Virginia senior offensive analyst Robby Brown to be the quarterbacks coach. The Dolphins' assistant quarterbacks coach Jerry Schuplinski was previously hired by the New York Giants.

Flores is retooling his coaching staff after his first season in South Beach was more of a tank than anything else. The Dolphins are looking to get the best players in the offseason and put them back on the right track.
