The Miami Dolphins have agreed with running back Jordan Howard on a two-year, $10 million deal. The deal was initially reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, while Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed the terms of the contract.

Howard spent the 2019 campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles. A shoulder injury limited him to 10 games, but when he was on the field he rushed for 525 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

The 25 year old, who played his collegiate football at Indiana University, was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round (150th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Howard had a spectacular rookie year, appearing in 15 games and racking up 1,313 yards and six scores on the ground, and averaged 5.2 yards per attempt. In addition, he caught 29 passes for 298 yards while reaching the end zone once. As a result, he was named to the Pro Bowl.

The following season, Howard was still effective, but took a bit of a step back rushing for 1,122 yards and nine touchdowns and registering 4.1 yards per tote while appearing in all 16 games.

Howard spent one more year with the Bears in 2018, finishing with 935 yards and nine scores while tallying a meager 3.7 yards per carry, leading to Chicago trading him to the Eagles that ensuing offseason.

Miami was widely expected to be one of the worst teams in NFL history entering 2019, and early on, the Dolphins played the part well, losing their first seven games. But they rebounded to win five of their last nine contests and finish 5-11. However, the Dolphins are in desperate need of help in their backfield, as they ranked last in the NFL in rushing in 2019.
