The New England Patriots have recently been buzzing with daily news regarding the developments in their quarterback competition. However, their AFC East division rival in the Miami Dolphins is also stuck in a somewhat similar situation.

Ryan Fitzpatrick may have sealed the QB1 position for now, but a competition for the back-up role is brewing between third-year player Josh Rosen and rookie Tua Tagovailoa.

The former UCLA Bruin shared his opinion on the rookie's arrival in Miami and his mindset moving forward as reported by ESPN's Cameron Wolfe on Twitter:

Ryan Fitzpatrick's veteran leadership and maturity on the field played a big factor in his reinstatement as the team's starting gunslinger come Week 1. He has a plethora of experience and was already a journeyman in the league, donning the colors of eight teams throughout his 16-year career. These include the Los Angeles Rams, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and currently the Miami Dolphins.

With the Buccaneers in 2018, Fitzpatrick became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 400 yards or more in three straight games.

Rosen, on the other hand, was primed to be the Arizona Cardinals' quarterback of the future back in 2018. However, the team took a u-turn and drafted a new gunslinger in Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray instead.

He was then traded to Miami in exchange for the Dolphins' 2019 second-round pick and 2020 fifth-round pick. He had a dismal season in 2019 as he recorded 567 passing yards on 109 attempts and a scored touchdown in 6 games played as a back-up to Fitzpatrick.

Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa remains a risk to play under center especially with his injury history. His dislocated hip injury prematurely ended his three-year tenure with the Alabama Crimson Tide. The 22-year old rookie will aim to work his way to becoming QB1 for the Dolphins sometime in the future.

Whoever will be chosen to be the primary gunslinger will undoubtedly have big responsibilities to revive a struggling Dolphins squad moving forward.
