We have a bit of good news, as Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton will be released from the hospital today, per his agent Malki Kawa.

“Great news @norton_kendrick is being released from the hospital today!” Kawa wrote. Norton, of course, tragically lost his arm in a car crash a couple of weeks ago. Norton's NFL career is over, but he's staying remarkably positive about the situation.

Norton gave his first interview since the crash with Peter D'Oench of CBS 4 Miami last week and said he's thankful to be alive.

“I am alive,” he said. “To be here, I am alive. One thing keeps me going and that is that I am still able to be here. Seeing my family is so important. It is very good that I have this support system. It keeps me strong and it keeps me tall.”

“But I realize that I will not be able to play for anyone,” he continued. “We are working past that you know. That reality is sinking in. I am alive and I am grateful. Now I want to organize a blood drive.”

Norton's attitude is remarkable, and it's great to see. It's also great to hear that he's being released from the hospital, as everything seems to be going smoothly. Recent reports indicated he would likely soon be fitted for a prosthetic arm. Of course, all of our thoughts are with Norton as he continues on his road to recovery.
