Heading into his third season in the league, Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake has a situation in front of him where he could burst onto the scene as one of the top young offensive talents in the league.

Drake has made some more strides in the right direction this offseason in training camp and the preseason that has earned him more praise from his teammates. According to Shandel Richardson of The Sun-Sentinel, quarterback Ryan Tannehill spoke highly about what the 24-year-old brings to the table out of the backfield as a legitimate dual-threat option.

“It’s huge,” Tannehill said.

“When you have a guy that explosive, whether he’s coming out of the backfield for a pass or we’ve seen the last two weeks on a run, it really gives us a spark and got us moving there in the second quarter. You never know, when you get a guy like that, any play can be the one that hits … to the edge. He really makes us dynamic whenever you have a guy that can take it the distance at any point.”

Drake has shown flashes of this promising play in the preseason that could make him a versatile factor in the offense. This was exemplified by the 36-yard reception he made down the field between double coverage against the Baltimore Ravens last week that showed his unique ability as a pass catcher that was a similar play to what a wide receiver would make down the field.

The presence of Frank Gore will limit Drake's playing time on the field, but it is quite evident that the young running back has big-play ability that could become quite noticeable early on in the season as he vies for that starting job. He has a skill set that could be highly utilized in the 2018 campaign that could lead to a breakout year.
