Through the first couple of months this offseason, the Miami Dolphins have been active in reshaping their roster. This has seen several prominent names on the move via free agency or the trade market.

However, the front office has made it clear it wants to keep ahold of their young, promising talent. According to Joe Schad of the PalmBeachPost.com, the Dolphins are expected to pick up the fifth-year option on wide receiver DeVante Parker's contract.

The Miami Dolphins are likely to pick up DeVante Parker’s fifth-year option.

Why?

Because it makes too much sense not to.

Teams usually exercise the option in cases where the player is not a totalbust. And despite what you may think about Parker, he’s not a bust.

Parker is set to play in the fourth year of his rookie deal that holds a $9.5 million fifth-year option for the 2019 campaign. The Dolphins have until May 3 to make that move official, which gives them a few weeks to handle more pressing business matters beforehand.

The 25-year-old has shown flashes of potential to develop into a star wide receiver, but nagging injuries have kept him from doing so up to this point in his career. However, he has a chance to become Miami's primary receiving threat in 2018 with the Dolphins deciding to trade Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason.

Parker could be in line to break out with a huge volume role in the offense that could see him significantly surpass the 56 catches, 670 receiving yards, and one touchdown reception that he had last season. He has shown the ability to make big plays down the field in addition to tough catches in traffic.

If Parker is able to take advantage of the opportunity in front of him, he could be in line for a huge payday next offseason. Nonetheless, it looks like he will be under contract in Miami for at least the next two seasons.
