The Miami Dolphins are going to be in need of a quarterback this offseason, and Tyrod Taylor could end up fitting the bill.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Dolphins seem to be targeting Taylor as a potential replacement for Ryan Tannehill, who will almost certainly be released.

Taylor spent the 2018 campaign with the Cleveland Browns and actually began the season as the starter before a Week 3 injury against the New York Jets cleared the way for rookie signal-caller Baker Mayfield.

In the time that Taylor played, he completed 42 of his 85 passes for 473 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions while posting a passer rating of 64.5.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Virginia Tech, was originally selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round (180th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Ravens as Joe Flacco's backup before moving on to the Buffalo Bills in 2015, where he assumed the starting role and actually made the Pro Bowl after throwing for 3,035 yards, 20 touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 63.7 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 99.4.

However, Taylor then went downhill the next two seasons, resulting in the Bills trading him to the Browns for a third-round draft pick last March.

The Dolphins are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they won seven games and missed the playoffs. Miami has made just one playoff appearance since 2009 and has not won a postseason game since the 2000-01 campaign.
