The Miami Dolphins have added yet another piece to the team's defense after bringing aboard former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores as the franchise's new head coach. According to an official statement released by his representation on Monday evening, free agent cornerback Tyler Patmon has signed with the Dolphins.

The addition of the 28-year-old Patmon comes immediately after his tryout with the Dolphins earlier in the day on Monday, which was only three days before training camp begins for the AFC franchise.

This is the veteran cornerback's second go-round in Miami. Tyler Patmon previously appeared in two games as a member the Dolphins toward the end of the 2015 season. Since then, he has served stints with the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

It is also worth noting that prior to serving his first stint as a member of the Dolphins, Patmon spent time with the Dallas Cowboys between 2014 and 2015, the period which began his NFL tenure.

As a result of the team's latest defensive signing, Patmon will soon become the 17th defensive back the Dolphins will feature in their secondary when training camp officially kicks off on Thursday. However, it remains to be seen as to whether that will be enough for the Dolphins to compete in 2019, which is not expected.

Miami will once again be forced to compete against the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in the AFC East Division, a group that also features the New York Jets and potentially pesky Buffalo Bills.
