The Miami Dolphins are trading for Kansas City Chiefs running back DeAndre Washington, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Dolphins are getting Washington and a 2021 seventh-round pick from Kansas City, while the Chiefs will receive a 2021 sixth-round pick, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

The Dolphins are 4-3 on the season and defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8 in Tua Tagovailoa's NFL debut. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are rolling right along after winning the Super Bowl last season, as they are 7-1 and atop the AFC West standings.

DeAndre Washington has only carried the ball three times this season for five yards in Kansas City. Now that the Chiefs have Le'Veon Bell and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the roster, there was no point for KC to keep Washington, who will get more playing time on the Dolphins.

Miami will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9. The Dolphins haven't made the playoffs since 2016. To reach the postseason this year, the team will likely have to clinch a Wild Card spot since it looks like the Buffalo Bills are going to win the AFC East division.

Since entering the NFL in 2016 with the Oakland Raiders, Washington has racked up 1,127 yards on the ground and seven touchdowns. He played his college football at Texas Tech and will now get to live in sunny Miami.
