Wide receiver Eli Rogers was among the notable players cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Miami Dolphins have wasted no time bringing him in.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins hosted Rogers for a visit just a day after he was cut by the Steelers:

Miami's interest in Rogers is certainly understandable. They managed to pull off a blockbuster trade that included one of their most integral pieces in the passing game in wide receiver Kenny Stills. It seems they are hoping that Rogers can potentially help fill the void.

The former undrafted free agent showed plenty of promise early after finishing the 2016 campaign with 48 receptions on 66 targets for 594 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately, his production dwindled over the last two seasons and he came into training came on the bottom of the depth chart after the departure of wide receiver Antonio Brown spurred the Steelers to bring in some fresh talent this offseason.

Fortunately, Rogers could have an opportunity at a fresh start in Miami. He will be hoping to fill in at the slot position that has been held by Stills in recent years. Although he is not as much of a deep threat as his potential predecessor, his skill set on the interior could provide a solid addition to this receiver corps.

Even if Rogers is unable to get a deal done with Miami, his prospects in free agency still appear to be bright.
