The Miami Dolphins are facing a COVID-19 outbreak which could have significant implications on the team's game plan for their Week 15 matchup with the rival New York Jets. Coming off their bye week in Week 14, the Dolphins were hoping for a clean bill of health on Sunday. But according to Tom Pelissero, that will be far from the case, with multiple Miami running backs having tested positive for COVID-19. The latest positive test came Monday morning, involving Phillip Lindsay.

Following Lindsay's positive test, all three running backs currently rostered by the Dolphins have now returned positive tests. Both Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed were already considered doubtful to play on Sunday, and now the Dolphins are truly in panic mode with the addition of Lindsay to the COVID list.

Rather than returning from their week off feeling replenished and ready to go, the Dolphins will now be scrambling to find potential replacements to suit up in the backfield. The Dolphins have Duke Johnson Jr. and Gerrid Doaks currently on the practice squad, who could be elevated to the active roster if need be. All three of Gaskin, Ahmed, and Lindsay are reportedly vaccinated, so it remains possible for them to test out of protocols ahead of Sunday's showdown.

With Miami in the midst of an impressive five-game winning streak, the team can't afford to drop a win against the lowly Jets if they want to remain in the playoff hunt. At 6-7, the Dolphins' COVID crisis comes during a crucial stretch for the team, who will likely be heavily reliant upon the play of Tua Tagovailoa in Week 15.
