The Miami Dolphins' shocking decision to fire head coach Brian Flores leaves them with a huge need to fill. The team seems to be on the verge of making the playoffs but decided to look for someone else to lead them there. In their starting quarterback spot, their mind is also made up.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Miami's preference is to find a coach that believes in Tua Tagovailoa as much as the front office does.

Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be the quarterback for the 2022 season, sources say, barring some sort of unforeseen occurrence. The organization's belief in him as their starter is considered significant, and it appears the search for a flashy replacement is over.

A new head coach will, source says, have the opportunity to evaluate every facet of the football team, including the QB. But the hope is to find a candidate who believes in him and can bring the best out of him.

Tagovailoa may have been the starting quarterback of a winning team. The Dolphins' offense was not very good and a big part of that was Tagovailoa's frequent turnovers. He threw 10 interceptions in 12 starts this season while tossing just 16 touchdowns. Although he made a great connection with Jaylen Waddle, his former collegiate teammate, he has much more work to do if he wants to be a truly elite quarterback.

Although the Dolphins brass is behind Tagovailoa, he will have to prove them right. It doesn't seem like Miami had to choose between him and Flores, but they certainly kept the less proven person of the two.
