The Miami Dolphins' quarterback situation is in limbo, and new Dolphins offensive coordinator Chad O'Shea understands that.

When the subject of Miami's quarterback controversy was broached, O'Shea said that the team is still evaluating the position:

“We’re still in the process of our evaluation of those players,” O’Shea said, according to The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “It’s an exciting part of the process to identify the players you’ll be working with.”

While the Dolphins still aren't sure about who will be playing under center in 2019, it has been widely accepted, however, that Ryan Tannehill will not be back in South Beach next season, with O'Shea saying that he has nothing but “tremendous respect” for Tannehill.

Tannehill, who played his collegiate football at Texas A&M University, was originally selected by the Dolphins with the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was cast into starting duty immediately during his rookie campaign, starting all 16 games and throwing for 3,294 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.

While Tannehill showed significant improvement over the next couple of years, he stalled out after his third season, and in 2017, the 30-year-old missed the entire season with a torn ACL.

This past year, Tannehill started 11 games for Miami, throwing for 1,979 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine picks while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.7.

The Dolphins are expected to cut Tannehill this offseason.

However, where they go from there is another topic entirely.

Joe Flacco is already off the market, as the Denver Broncos acquired him in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens earlier in the week. Also, it appears that Nick Foles will be heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
