The Miami Dolphins lost one of the best defensive players in the league in Ndamukong Suh this offseason. However, they did get a pretty good one back in former Los Angeles Rams edge rusher, Robert Quinn, whose mind-bending flexibility is already blowing away his new team.

“He’s a unique athlete,” defensive coordinator Matt Burke said per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post. “He bends probably as good as anybody I’ve ever been around. It’s weird to watch sometimes, to be honest with you. He comes off the corner and sometimes you think he’s actually rushing too high and gets past the quarterback, then he just turns his foot and plants it and bends it. His knee is about two feet off the ground and he can really hug it. It’s pretty fun.”

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill also hailed Quinn’s bend around the edge and can’t seem to grasp how Quinn’s movements are physically possible.

“It’s incredible how he bends the corner and his hips are two feet off the ground, but he’s running full speed around the corner,” Tannehill said of Quinn per Schad.

Quinn is obviously a fine player in his own right. Anyone who has 19 sacks in a single season-as Quinn did in 2013 en route to Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors-must be. However, health has been the big thing for Quinn. When he’s been able to stay on the field, he’s virtually guaranteed close to 10 sacks a season.

It will be interesting to see how Quinn adjusts to playing a defensive end in a 3-4 this season after playing as a 4-3 DE and 3-4 OLB for his career. But with all the skills he has at his disposal, he should form a formidable pass-rushing duo with Cameron Wake, who is also capable of bending his way to opposing quarterbacks.
