Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is embarrassed with how the team played in game one against the Baltimore Ravens, and he knows the team needs to be a lot better going forward.

“It’s never good to be embarrassed like that, especially at this level,” Fitzpatrick said via the Palm Beach Post. “What we had talked about: nobody is going to feel sorry for you and your situation. That’s what happens. You go out there and if you don’t execute, you’re going to get beat bad like that.”

Fitzpatrick was 14-for-29 for 185 yards, one touchdown, and one interception before giving way to backup quarterback Josh Rosen in the third quarter. The one interception was early in the game when the Dolphins were only down 7-0 and it was the start of the wheels falling off.

“It happened,” Fitzpatrick said. “Earl made a nice play. We tried to get Kenyan down the seam and Earl came out of center field and picked it.”

The Dolphins now get to play the New England Patriots on Sunday and coach Brian Flores has made it clear that Fitzpatrick will get at least one more start.

“I thought he did well trying to move this offense,” Miami coach Brian Flores said of Fitzpatrick. “I thought he made some throws, got some explosive plays in the first half. We had a couple drops that could have been bigger plays. I thought he played – he had the turnover, which we don’t – it was a bad decision there.”

The Patriots have made it clear they are playing to lose with their moves over the last couple of weeks so maybe going forward they will stick with the quarterback who gives them the worse chance to win.
