Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is the definition of an NFL journeyman.

The 37-year-old has spent time with eight different franchises since entering the league back in 2005, and while his results have been mostly unspectacular (which is the reason why he is a journeyman), he has had some shining moments.

Take last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, for example, when Fitzpatrick completed 27 of his 39 passes for 365 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in what was probably his second-best outing of the season.

On Wednesday, Fitzpatrick said that his confidence is sky-high.

“Personally, I feel like I’m better now than I’ve ever been,” Fitzpatrick said Wednesday, according to Alain Poupart of the Dolphins' team website. “Statistically, whatever, just in terms of what I’m doing and my focus and preparation and going out there with the group that I have and my confidence is at an all-time high just in terms of all that stuff.”

Fitzpatrick's numbers for the season as a whole don't look great. He has thrown for 2,266 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 picks while completing 62.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 82.2.

But for a guy who is merely serving as a stopgap for a bad team, that's acceptable, and most importantly, Fitzpatrick is enjoying his time in South Beach.

“I just came in and tried to do the best I could,” Fitzpatrick said. “I’m happy with the fact that I’ve been able to, that I was reinserted into the lineup and able to play and able to grow with some of these guys. The way that some of these guys are playing right now and developing a rapport with them, that stuff has all been really good.”

Miami, which began the season 0-7, picked up its third win of the year last weekend and will battle the New York Jets—one of Fitzpatrick's former clubs—on Sunday.
