Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is set to be a full participant in today’s OTAs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill, who has recovered nicely from a torn ACL, will participate in OTAs today. He’s going to do everything, I’m told. A very good sign for his progress in rehab.

Tannehill is working his way back following last year’s ACL surgery, which cost him the entire 2017 season. Jay Cutler came out of retirement to deputize in Tannehill's absence as the Dolphins went a mediocre 6-10.

Despite speculation that the Dolphins were looking at potential quarterback options at the draft, head coach Adam Gase has reiterated that Tannehill is the team’s starting quarterback this season. As such, it’s important for the team that he is healthy and ready to perform at a high level this season.

Tannehill last saw action in the 2016 season, where he had 2,995 yards and 19 touchdowns with 12 interceptions in 13 games. While he saw his pass attempts within the offense reduced in favor of a bigger emphasis on the running game that year, he did improve his completion percentage significantly as he connected on 67 percent of his passes.

None of Tannehill’s current backups — Brock Osweiler, David Fales, and Bryce Petty — inspire much confidence whatsoever, which makes his health and effectiveness even more crucial this season.

After the loss of top receiving target Jarvis Landry this offseason, Tannehill will get the opportunity to know his new receiving weapons in Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson better during OTAs.
