Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill sustained an ankle injury in Sunday’s incredible win over the New England Patriots. The injury wasn’t enough to keep him off the field for the final play, wherein the Dolphins improbably pulled off the “Miami Miracle.”

However, Tannehill’s status for Week 15 against the Minnesota Vikings could potentially be in jeopardy due to the ankle injury.

Tannehill will likely be limited in practice throughout the week — if he does practice — as they try to get his ankle ready for Sunday.

After getting the unlikely win against New England, the Dolphins are suddenly back in the playoff race. They’re one of four teams tied at 7-6 along with the Ravens, Colts, and Titans, but are behind Baltimore and Indianapolis in the tie-breakers.

Tannehill has been playing pretty well in the three games since returning from a shoulder injury. In those three games, he’s completed 69 percent of his passes for 606 yards, with eight touchdowns and just one interception for a 129.9 passer rating.

Obviously, the Dolphins will be hoping to get Tannehill healthy and ready to play against the Vikings. But if his ankle issue proves too troublesome, then Brock Osweiler will have to step in.

Osweiler has already made five starts this season, with the Dolphins going 2-3 in those starts. He’s completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 1,247 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions. The Dolphins lost both road games he played in, falling to the Texans and the Packers.
