The Miami Dolphins pulled off an incredible upset on Sunday over the New England Patriots on a miracle play and according to Ryan Tannehill, he knew the final play would work once he saw Rob Gronkowski on the field.

The Dolphins needed to go 69 yards on the last play of the game to beat the Patriots and after some pitches and Kenyan Drake beating Gronkowski to the pylon, it was a touchdown.

“The play kind of got messed up,” quarterback Ryan Tannehill said via Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com. “I saw Kenyan there, I said [to Parker] “pitch it! pitch it! He pitches it, Kenyan came back inside. … Then I saw him and [Rob Gronkowski] about 10 yards away. I said, ‘Gronk's on the field? We got this!' So, yeah, it was pretty amazing. I was following behind and I actually just turned around and collapsed just with the emotion of the whole thing.”

The Patriots received a lot of heat for having Gronkowski on the field since chances were high they wouldn't be throwing a Hail Mary. Tannehill is only a few weeks removed from a shoulder injury and it's unclear if he even had the arm to reach the end zone. After the game Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Gronk was in to try and bat a medium length pass.

The Dolphins currently sit with a 7-6 record and are still alive in the AFC playoff picture. They will travel to the Twin Cities next weekend to take on the Minnesota Vikings in a game that is basically a must win.
