Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill missed the entire 2017 NFL season with a knee injury he suffered during a non-contact drill in practice last offseason. As a result, there was some speculation that he may temper his mobility in the 2018 NFL season.

However, it appears Tannehill has no intention of doing so. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, he plans on using his legs whenever he can:

“I feel like I am moving well, able to escape, able to get upfield when the window is there,” Tannehill said. “It’s still going to be a weapon for me. When defenses present an open spot, we have to take advantage of it with my legs.”

Tannehill's comments may come as a bit of a surprise. Usually, when quarterbacks suffer a severe injury, they tend to take a more cautious approach to the game. This means staying in the pocket by any means necessary. However, it seems Tannehill is not worried about being at risk for further injury.

His versatile skill set is part of the reason Miami was so enamored with him in the first place. Given how his career has gone up to this point, Tannehill can no longer afford to hold anything back.

Despite showing flashes of promise, the jury is still out on whether or not he is their franchise quarterback of the future. The Dolphins decided to pass on this year's deep quarterback class in favor Tannehill. However, if he is unable to do the job, best believe the Dolphins will start to consider other options.
