The Miami Dolphins are hopeful that Tua Tagovailoa will be their franchise quarterback for years to come. Similar to most rookies though, it appears Tagovailoa is experiencing some growing pains. After Miami's first few practices, Tagovailoa is drawing mixed reviews early in training camp.

Following the team's first week of practice, Brian Flores shared what he's seen from Tagovailoa so far:

“Some good, some bad,” Flores said, via Safid Deen of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “Some good throws and good decisions, some throws that aren’t so good and some decisions that weren’t so good.”

Tagovailoa was unable to finish his final season at Alabama due to a hip injury he suffered near the end of last year. Therefore, after battling his way back from injury, needing time to adjust to playing again was expected. While Flores has seen the good and the bad from the rookie passer, Mike Gesicki raved about Tagovailoa's start to training camp.

“Tua has been great — great around the building, great on the field,” Gesicki said, via the Sun Sentintel. “He’s really just a kid at 22 years old. He could’ve still been in college, which is crazy when you think about that stuff. For him to come in here and really grasp the playbook, grasp the feel of the locker room and then go out there and make plays and put the ball where it needs to be, I’m super excited about his future and all of that kind of stuff,”

For a decent portion of the offseason, many have wondered whether Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovailoa will start in Week 1. Even though he could start at some point this season, Flores' comments seem to point toward the team trusting Fitzpatrick a bit more right now.
