Fans of the Miami Dolphins are anxious to see Tua Tagovailoa make his first career start in 2020, but it may take some time for the team to feel comfortable doing so. Just a few days before Miami's matchup with the New England Patriots in Week 1, Tagovailoa was on the team's injury report for a hip issue despite logging a full practice.

Of course, Tagovailoa's final season at Alabama was cut short due to a hip injury in 2019. Therefore, with him landing on the injury report, he still isn't fully recovered from the hip ailment from last year. That is unless the rookie quarterback sustained a separate hip injury during training camp.

At the least, Tagovailoa was a full participant in practice on Tuesday, meaning the injury isn't serious. At the same time though, it's evident that the Dolphins are giving him treatment for his hip injury.

After being taken with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Tagovailoa is expected to be Miami's future franchise quarterback. But with him not having a full offseason to work with the team, veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will get the nod to start in Week 1. Plus, if Tagovailoa still isn't 100 percent healthy, there's no reason for Miami to insert him in as the starter yet.

Coming out of Alabama, Tagovailoa had some durability issues, dealing with other injuries besides his season-ending hip injury in 2019. Even though he isn't missing practice with the team, it will be worth monitoring Tagovailoa's status moving forward as he tends to his ailing hip.
