Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores benched rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos.

However, Tagovailoa will be starting again in Week 12 versus the lowly New York Jets, who are still winless on the season.

During his media session with Dolphins reporters on Monday, Flores said he fully expects Tagovailoa to have a big game against the Jets after getting benched versus Denver.

“He’s the starting quarterback. He knows that. We’ve had that conversation,” Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said, via Alain Poupart of SI.com.

“He’s played well. And I expect him to continue to play well, I expect him to bounce back. He’s a resilient kid like I’ve said. He’s a talented kid as well, too. I expect him to bounce back. I expect our entire team to bounce back, be honest with you.”

Against the Broncos, Tua Tagovailoa went 11-of-20 for just 83 yards. While he did throw a touchdown pass to DeVante Parker, the Dolphins lost to Denver by a final score of 20-13.

Odds are Tagovailoa will play well against the Jets. New York is a walking disaster on both sides of the ball, so look for the Dolphins to have a relatively easy game against their former coach, Adam Gase.

Miami is 6-4 on the season and in second place in the AFC East. To make the playoffs, they will likely have to clinch a Wild Card spot since it appears the Buffalo Bills are going to win the division.
