The Miami Dolphins are expected to take a quarterback early in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. According to Bleacher Report's Matt Miller, Miami could draft a surprise quarterback with the No. 5 pick of the draft.

For months, it's been assumed that the Dolphins are going to target Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick. However, according to what Miller is hearing, Miami is more interested in Herbert.

Due to the coronavirus, teams have been unable to conduct pre-draft visits and medicals for incoming rookies. Therefore, the Dolphins could be wary of selecting Tagovailoa due to his hip injury. Even though Tagovailoa posted videos of him throwing, it's unknown how healthy he'll be when he's drafted.

Unless Tagovailoa's hip injury is worse than expected, then Miami shouldn't pass on the left-handed quarterback. While he does have injury concerns, Tagovailoa is arguably the most talented quarterback available in this year's draft.

On the other hand, Herbert has also been a popular name to go within the first 10 picks in the first round. Also, it's important to note that the Dolphins were among the teams impressed with Herbert's leadership ability.

Of course, with the unusual circumstances before this year's draft, every rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. For all we know, the Dolphins are already set on taking Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick.

There's also a decent chance that Miami completes a trade to move up in the first round to select a quarterback. If the Dolphins take Herbert over Tagovailoa in the first round, that would definitely come as a surprise.
