The prospect of the Cincinnati Bengals taking LSU quarterback Joe Burrow with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has seemingly been set in stone. However, it appears the Miami Dolphins could be looking to potentially make a run at the Heisman Trophy winner.

The Dolphins are among the teams in desperate need of a long-term solution under center. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, they will attempt to trade up from the No. 5 spot to draft Joe Burrow with the first pick:

Per a league source, the Dolphins covet LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft.

It is safe to say that it would take quite the package of picks in order to sway the Bengals to move back. After all, they are also in need of a potential franchise quarterback and they would no longer be allowed to take one of their choosing. Fortunately, director of player personnel Duke Tobin has since refuted a report that the team would not be open to trading the top pick, which indicates they will at least be gauging the market for Joe Burrow.

The Dolphins made headlines during the 2019 NFL season when they managed to spark quite a resurgence down the stretch to finish with a 5-11 record. Although fans may have been rejoicing in the play of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick following an 0-7 start, there is no question that their success had some repercussions on their positioning in this year's draft. Joe Burrow isn't in the picture.

As a result, Miami now finds itself in a situation where it will have to overpay in order to secure a bonafide prospect under enter. Regardless, it will ultimately come down to how teams evaluate Joe Burrow throughout the draft process.
