Reshad Jones could be part of the next realignment in South Florida. The Miami Dolphins are currently in the midst of a major transition. With quarterback Ryan Tannehill shipped to the Tennessee Titans and new head coach Brian Flores on the job, the Dolphins are attempting to find their footing with the 2019 NFL Draft only a few weeks away.

As a result, the Dolphins might be forced to make even more moves, which may not bode well for Jones, a veteran safety.

“That means next offseason Reshad Jones, 32 years old in 2020, will likely be cut a after the team tries to trade him,” writes Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. “Jones would have been among the players cut already this year but his contract has so far insulated him from that fate because it would cost more to cut him than keep him. But next year, Miami can save up to $11.5 million in cap space by cutting or trading him. Indeed, the Dolphins can save up to $13.1 million this year by trading Jones after June 1. So do not be surprised if the Dolphins try to trade the former Pro Bowl safety before the 2019 regular season begins.”

Of course, the Dolphins blew up the team's original blueprint after failing to reach the postseason once again in 2018. While the AFC East franchise still houses a slew of talented players, the struggling Dolphins have notably parted with the aforementioned Tannehill, pass rusher Cameron Wake, and wide receiver Jarvis Landry over the course of the last few seasons — just to name a few.
