Happy Halloween in the National Football League or something. The Miami Dolphins have traded talented running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles only a few hours before the trade deadline is set to expire.

The Dolphins traded running back Jay Ajayi to the Eagles for a fourth-round draft pick, according to multiple reports.

This is a huge deal for both teams for a variety of reasons.

For Miami, only getting a fourth-round pick back makes it feel like Adam Gase and company are kind of (already) giving up on the season. At the same time, Gase has spent the last few weeks blasting his offense, and maybe this was done to partially send a message to the rest of the locker room.

What kind of message? I am not too sure.

As for the Eagles, Philly has been in desperate need of a running back stability after injuries began depleting the position to start the season. With Carson Wentz taking that next step in becoming an elite-level gunslinger, and the Eagles looking like real Super Bowl contenders, adding such a talented player for such minimal cost is monumental.

In Philadelphia, Ajayi joins a a backfield that also includes LeGarrette Blount, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement and Kenjon Barner. Some of whom have been hurt, are best served playing only special teams, or are good at playing during specific situations.

Now the Eagles have even more craziness at the position, but the good kind. Depth is no longer a problem. Not even close to it.

Fly Eagles Fly, am I right?
