Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard pulled off a stupendous, one-handed pick on Patrick Mahomes Sunday afternoon versus the Chiefs, breathing new life into Miami's quest for a win. His ninth interception overall on the year, the pick also means that Howard will have at least one takeaway in five straight games, an unbelievable streak that is easily the longest in the NFL among defensive players.

Forced to guard Tyreek Hill in man-to-man coverage, the pick came as the Chiefs were once again driving deep into Miami territory to start the fourth quarter. Despite having intercepted Mahomes twice in the game to that point, the Dolphins inability to produce on offense had allowed Kansas City to dominate time of possession, as they built a 20-point lead. Attempting to deliver what likely would have been the knockout punch, Mahomes fired a deep pass to the streaking Hill, as the wide receiver attempted to get to the outside pylon.

Thankfully for the Dolphins, Howard came leaping in to save the day against the Chiefs.

The fourth Chiefs' turnover on the day–and third for Mahomes–Miami used the opportunity to promptly march down the field and score what would be, only their second touchdown on the afternoon. While the Dolphins continue to trail, the pick seems to have energized an offense that appeared stagnant through three quarters.

With 4:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, Kansas City leads the Dolphins, 30-24.

The Chiefs are trying to rise above the Pittsburgh Steelers for the No. 1 seed in the AFC postseason. Both teams had one loss entering Sunday's play. The Steelers currently have the head-to-head tiebreaker, but the Steelers face a tough challenge against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football.
