Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm is launching his own game studio. A job listing on his official Champion's Club website is looking for a “Game Studio Head.” The post reads:
“Dr Disrespect in partnership with BoomTV is taking on the game industry by storm and incubating a new AA/AAA gaming studio that has a unique twist to it. The studio plans to forge a partnership with a select list of mega influencers and then work closely with them to launch their dream gaming title. Those gaming titles will either be incubated and developed OR partner/co-develop with existing indie game developers and launched as mega titles.”
This move isn't too surprising, as Dr Disrespect was a former Call of Duty level designer. Currently, there are no other job openings posted. Presumably, the Studio Head position will just be the first step for the new venture.
Interestingly, his studio will involve “mega influencers” much more deeply than usual. They will be heavily tied to the development process. This is instead of the norm, where they are just one part of the marketing campaign. So far, there are no concrete details about the studio. Dr Disrespect hasn't announced the studio's name yet, either.
However, the job listing also states that “viral and retention loops and iterate monetization” and “integrated esports and influencer marketing” will be part and parcel of the role. This might clue us in on the possible genres they're looking to create. Putting these elements together makes it seem like it might be a live-service competitive game. Looking at Dr Disrespect's repertoire, it might also be a first-person shooter.
