Draymond Green doesn't need the last word, he just enjoys having someone to go out there and prove wrong, game after game.

This time it's Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, who made the observation that the Golden State Warriors defense isn't the same and that they badly miss Andrew Bogut‘s rim defense and intimidation.

Obviously the word got back to Golden State players and staff, and Green made a point to prove Lillard wrong. The Warriors led by as much as 34 points in the fourth quarter on Tuesday night, forcing Blazers coach Terry Stotts to rest his starters and play his reserves earlier than expected.

“I love when people say stuff like that,” Green told Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News. “Some opinions will change sooner than later.”

The Warriors defensive anchor definitely took the comments to heart and made sure to have an impactful defensive output, despite playing only 30 minutes this game.

Green had his usual all-around effort, finishing with six points, eight rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and two blocks in a 127-104 win. The victory came easily despite the lasting struggles of shooting guard Klay Thompson, who went 0-of-7 from deep, making it a dismal 3-of-31 to start the season.

Lillard's comments ended up backfiring, as the Warriors put an end to his torrid start, becoming the first team to keep him under double-digit field goals in the season.
