The Anaheim Ducks veteran center Ryan Getzlaf is hitting the free-agent market for the first time in his career. After spending 16 years in the league, it appears as though Getzlaf is excited about being a free agent this offseason, per Andy Strickland. During an interview on the Cam and Strick Podcast, Ryan Getzlaf talks loosely about his future in the NHL.

Getzlaf has been with the Ducks throughout his entire career. Anaheim is the favorite to re-sign the 16-year veteran to the team, but he's open to the idea of signing elsewhere. He mentions in the interview how his wife and kids will be involved with his decision, as they play an important role in where he winds up playing.

He may choose to sign with a franchise that's closer to winning a title though, as the Ducks finished last in the Western Division. He's entering the 17th year of his career, so Getzlaf could opt for a championship run before retiring from the sport.

We'll see how it plays out though, as staying in Anaheim is a likely decision as well. Finishing his career with the Ducks would be a nice way to go out, as we've seen memorable athletes go down that path before.

Getzlaf has been the face of the Ducks for quite some time. He has totaled 279 goals, 703 assists, and maintained an impressive 11.4% shooting percentage. If his time is done in Anaheim, the Ducks will surely miss him, as he has been a staple for this franchise since the Mighty Ducks' days.

According to Pierre LeBrun, some teams that are rumored to be interested in signing Getzlaf are the Edmonton Oilers, Montréal Canadians, and the Boston Bruins. Keep a close tab on Ryan Getzlaf, as he should be a hot commodity during the 2021 NHL offseason. His name could be amongst numerous rumors during free agency.
