The Duke Blue Devils will reportedly make history when they name Nina King the school's new athletic director. According to a report from The News & Observer, the announcement should be made soon.

When the move becomes official, Nina King will become the first woman and person of color to lead the way in Duke's athletic department. She will be replacing Kevin White, who retired not too long ago.

Nina King athletic director – Duke

Duke Blue Devils, Nina King athletic director, Nina King Duke, Duke Nina King,

For those unaware, King previously worked with Notre Dame and has been at Duke since 2008. Only 42, she graduated from both Notre Dame and Tulane. Her most recent position at Duke head her overseeing the football program as well as the women's basketball team.

That's not the only stuff on her resume, which reads far more glowingly than you'd find anywhere on Linkedin. She was a member of the Woman's NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, was at the forefront of Duke's ACE program, and was up for this same position with Northwestern.

As it is whenever a school makes a hire, time will tell just how well Nina King does with the Duke Blue Devils. On paper, she appears more than qualified to take over for the guy who just hung it up. Her first order of business will, obviously, be to convince Coach K to never retire.
