Kevin Durant will begin this season on his third team since entering the NBA.

In a technical sense, he was a Seattle SuperSonics player until now, and he has never forgotten about it.

Durant spoke with SI's Chris Ballard about his connection to the Pacific Northwest.

I think about it all the time. The fans, the community, the leaders here in Seattle, they all embraced the team and the players, so I can imagine growing up here.

Durant was in town for his Kevin Durant Charity Foundation, and all attention focused on him once he arrived.

I was 19 when I started here, so growing up here would've definitely been amazing. I'd have learned a lot and met a lot of great people and really been into this city, really called this city home. But hey, other things happened.

But, I still feel really attached to this city.

The team was moved to Oklahoma City early in Durant's career, but he still wants the Sonics' stake in the NBA to remain.

That's what every player wants to see.

When you come around this community, it's just an amazing feeling. Me along with every other NBA player wishes a team comes back here.

The city came close just once to buying another team to move into Seattle but they eventually lost the bid.

Everyone is hopeful that a team will return to Seattle one day and when the opportunity comes it will have all of the players' support.
