Dustin Poirier apologized to Conor McGregor after the two engaged in heated verbal sparring after Poirier said the Notorious One never donated to his Good Fight Foundation.

The trilogy bout between Poirier and McGregor was finalized Wednesday, with the two set to go at it on July 10. Poirier issued a statement shortly after the announcement, saying he should never have publicized “private matters.”

Conor McGregor had said he would donate $500,000 to Good Fight Foundation in advance of the second fight between the two at UFC 257 in January, a fight Poirier won by knockout.

However, Dustin Poirier said earlier this week McGregor and his team never followed through with that charitable promise.

McGregor said his team wanted assurances the money would be put to good use. But Poirier claimed McGregor's team “ghosted” on all communications after the fight, adding his own team reached out to McGregor three separate times with no replay.

That back-and-forth really set the Irishman off. McGregor tried to belittle Poirier on Twitter, even saying the fight was off.

Poirier had a simple, perfect response, merely replying with a clip of his knockout victory over McGregor in the rematch.

The dialogue was quite a bit different from the buildup to the second fight, during which both fighters displayed a tremendous amount of respect for one another.

Dustin Poirier's statement seems to suggest he would prefer to maintain that level of respect in advance of the trilogy.

The UFC announced McGregor-Poirier 3 would take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It is sure to be one of the more highly-anticipated fights of the year.
