Now that Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are vying for the top spot in the F1 standings, each race from here on out becomes more pivotal with a world championship at stake. Looking to continue their dominance at the Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton and Verstappen will have some tough competition awaiting them this weekend. This will make for an exciting race as it marks F1's return to Circuit Zandvoort for the first time since 1986.

With Hamilton and Verstappen looking to continue their dominance and a slew of their competitors looking to podium, the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix will make for quite the spectacle. Having said all this, let's checkout three drivers who could overtake Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at the Dutch Grand Prix this Sunday.

Dutch Grand Prix: Upset Candidates

Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, F1

George Russell

Seeking a third straight points finish and his second consecutive podium on Sunday, George Russell has been a working some kind of magic these past couple of races. He may be starting at 11th on the grid after qualifying outside of the points, but if his hot streak can continue, he might just be hot on the trail of Hamilton and Verstappen at Circuit Zandvoort. After rainy conditions and a close finish at last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, Russell will look to build off of that momentum heading into Sunday's race.

Coming off a second place finish from last weekend, Russell has shown that he definitely has the skills, patience, and mental endurance to come away with a win on the the F1 stage. Having said all this, George Russell may beat Hamilton and Verstappen to the punch on Sunday and come away with a first place finish at the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix. Is it likely to happen? Not exactly. But we didn't expect the last two race results for him either now, did we?

Sergio Perez

Looking to come off a stretch of bad luck and podium at tomorrow's race, Sergio Perez will be out with a vengeance and working to knock off Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to come away with a big win at Circuit Zandvoort. After a long podium drought, Perez is looking to get back into the mix and earn his first points finish since his victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in June.

Come tomorrow morning, you can expect Perez to be driving like a man possessed and ready to outpace Hamilton and Verstappen in the hopes of winning his first grand prix in just under three months. With this in mind, Sergio Perez will be out to make a big statement tomorrow and look to interfere with the budding rivalry that's developed between Hamilton and Verstappen.

Valtteri Bottas

Aiming to get back on the podium after a third place finish at the British Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas will be coming in hot and driving to stay alive on Sunday morning in the hopes of pulling off a major upset at the Dutch Grand Prix. Granted it's only been a few races since he last garnered a podium, but Bottas is long overdue for another big victory during this highly competitive and historic F1 season.

As a long-time competitor of both drivers, Bottas can gauge the tendencies of Hamilton and Verstappen better than most of the other drivers and this could prove to be beneficial during tomorrow's big showdown in the Netherlands. Between his skills, experience, and insider knowledge, Valtteri Bottas could pull off a huge upset tomorrow and earn himself a first place finish in what's set to be a wild race tomorrow morning.
