EA announced last week that it will begin investigating allegations of an employee selling premium FIFA 21 items through an illegal black market. The employee in question allegedly contacted FIFA 21 players promising them easy access to high-level in-game items in exchange for money.

The back-alley deals ignited the “EA Gate” trend on social media but now EA finally strikes back. Things look grim for the seller in question along with all of the players that actually purchased Ultimate Team items for cash. Undoubtedly, EA will not be merciful towards all transgressors. EA moved to indefinitely disable Content Granting for FIFA 21 effectively cutting the problem off at the source.

FIFA 21 MICROTRANSACTION SNAFU

EA sent out a warning to all players involved in the illegal activities surrounding EA Gate. All accounts found with items that were “transferred nefariously” will be permanently banned. EA's zero-tolerance policy no doubt comes from its overwhelming passion for its own microtransaction money stream. EA's statement further showed the company's seething rage towards the proponents of the black market deals.

“We also appreciate how extremely annoying and frustrating it is that this practice might have come from within EA.  We’re angry too.  We know that the trust of our communities is hard-earned, and is based on principles of Fair Play.  This illicit activity shakes that trust. This is a breach of that principle, as well — and we won’t let it stand.”

FIFA 21's design calls for players to grind endlessly to get the best items in the game. Additionally, players could choose to shell out real money for loot packs that may contain what they need in order to become stronger. Naturally, players always try to find methods of circumventing random loot boxes in exchange for actual power-ups. Unfortunately, it didn't work out this time for those players looking to take massive shortcuts. Crime doesn't pay and those with permanently banned accounts won't be forgetting this lesson anytime soon.
