Electronic Arts' Seattle Studio is making a new single-player Battlefield Game

It seems that the company that is so keen on looking down on single-player games is in fact turning to single-player games in hopes of rejuvenating a dying franchise. A couple of job listings for the Battlefield Seattle Studio (hat tip to GameSpot for spotting this) revealed that EA is now actively hiring people for this new project. One of the role descriptions mention that “Your job is to embrace the core tenets of the Battlefield franchise and make sure they are woven through all layers of a masterfully designed single player campaign,” as well as listing down “Define and lead the design efforts necessary for creating a best-in-class single player campaign experience” as one of the role's core responsibilities.

Battlefield 2042 had a very disastrous launch that led to the game being one of the lowest-rated games of all time. It was plagued with a lot of bugs and technical issues, so much so that even the most hardcore Battlefield fans opted instead to play older Battlefield titles, completely ignoring the new one. It looks like EA has finally come to its senses, and will instead have the new Battlefield Seattle Studio focus on a single-player title, which will essentially bring back Battlefield to its roots. That's a good thing on paper, but we do hope that the executives won't force the developers to include any microtransactions or live-service elements to the game that will unnecessarily bog down the experience. Let's hope that the Seattle Studio will be able to bring the game back to its roots naturally.
