Throughout the week, it was declared that Jordan Howard has yet to be cleared for contact following a shoulder stinger. As a result, Howard has been ruled out for the Philadelphia Eagles versus the New England Patriots, per Ian Rapoport.

Howard sustained the shoulder stinger in the team's last game against the Chicago Bears. Initially, Philadelphia believed that their starting running back would be cleared ahead of Sunday's contest.

Instead, Howard will miss Week 11 and have his sights on returning in Week 12. The injury doesn't appear to be a long-term issue, but the Eagles are erring on the side of caution with Howard.

This season, the bruising back has contributed 525 yards on 119 carries and six touchdowns in his first year in Philadelphia. Through the air, Howard hasn't been much of a factor as a receiver with only 10 receptions, 69 yards, and one touchdown.

In the light of Howard being out, rookie Miles Sanders will join the starting offense against the Patriots. Boston Scott, a second-year back, will also see some snaps in the offense at running back.

Earlier in the week, the Eagles also signed Jay Ajayi to provide some depth at the running back position. Of course, Ajayi was with Philadelphia when the team won their first Super Bowl in franchise history in 2017.

Besides Howard, veteran Darren Sproles has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a hip injury. The number of injuries in the Eagles' backfield isn't helping their cause to upset the Patriots in Week 11.
