Andre Dillard is going to be asked to take a more prominent role with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 and he seems up for the challenge. As he prepares to start at left tackle this season, Dillard has a ‘prove it' mentality coming into training camp.

“There’s a lot of pressure and responsibility, naturally, but you can’t really dwell on that,” Dillard said, via Reuben Frank of NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “I’m the guy for the position, I’m going to keep proving that I’m the guy for the spot.”

Earlier this offseason, the Eagles allowed Jason Peters to test free agency after 11 seasons of him starting at left tackle. As a result, Philadelphia was prepared to promote Dillard to replace Peters. Even though Peters has returned to the team to play guard, Dillard still faces pressured to succeed in 2020.

Dillard was selected with the No. 22 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Washington State. As a rookie, Dillard started in just four games, helping fill in for Peters when the veteran was out with an injury.

Just as expected though, the first-year offensive tackle was hot and cold during his short time as a starter. In his 336 offensive snaps, Dillard allowed four sacks and committed one penalty for the Eagles.

With Peters returning, Dillard is soaking in the knowledge that the two-time All-Pro is giving him. On the other hand, while he works with Peters and the other veterans, Dillard is ready to prove that Philadelphia made the right choice giving him a chance to protect the blindside of Carson Wentz.
