In the months that have followed the Philadelphia Eagles first Super Bowl win, one of the underlying situations has been star defensive end Brandon Graham's contract.

Graham is set to enter the final year of his four-year, $26 million deal that he has already expressed a desire to work out a new long-term deal. However, there has yet to be any significant movement toward that, which is something that the 30-year-old has stated that he is fine with that being the case at this point in time, according to Jeff McLane of Philly.com.

“You always want to be secure, but I’m OK with whatever because at the end of the day, next week we get that [Super Bowl] ring,” Graham said. “If we didn’t have the team we have then I would say let’s get secure, but we got a great team to do it again. …

“We’ll get [the contract] done however it go. I’m 30 years old and I understand this is a business, too. But I got to keep showing them that I’m just going to keep taking it up and go out on my terms.”

The Eagles have already done much scuffling along the defensive line this offseason that has seen the addition of Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett and veteran defensive tackle Haloti Ngata along with the departure of Vinny Curry. The front office has bulked up the defensive front that has likely given them comfort about the state of that unit.

That said, Graham has proven to a highly valuable commodity for the Eagles in his first eight seasons with the team that has seen him finally break through this past year. He posted a career-high and team-best 9.5 sacks while forcing two fumbles in the 2017 campaign that included a Super Bowl-sealing fumble on Tom Brady.

It may simply come down to Graham proving on the field once again that he is an invaluable piece to the puzzle in order to earn that long-term lucrative contract to remain in Philadelphia.
