Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is recovering from right ankle surgery and could miss the team's spring workouts, Tim McManus of ESPN reports.

Graham underwent the procedure on his ankle on May 1. There’s still a chance he could take part in organized team activities and minicamp, but the ultimate goal is for him to be ready for training camp in July. Although he is currently in a protective boot, he’s still expected to report for the start of the Eagles’ OTAs on Monday.

Graham originally sustained a high ankle sprain back in the Eagles' game on Christmas night against the Oakland Raiders. But despite the injury, he still managed to play a key part in the Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl. His strip sack of Tom Brady late in the fourth quarter basically sealed the title for Philadelphia.

The 30-year-old Graham was the 13th overall pick by the Eagles in the 2010 draft and has spent his entire eight-year NFL career in Philadelphia. He’s been incredibly durable during his career; the meaningless Week 17 game he skipped due to his ankle injury was the first regular season game he’s missed since 2011.

Graham is coming off a terrific year in 2017 as he picked up a career-best 9.5 sacks, which led the team. He is the second key member of the Eagles defensive line who is expected to miss significant time this offseason due to surgery. Defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan could potentially miss the first few weeks of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his back.
