The Eagles are once again entering the dark storm of quarterback controversy. The city of Philadelphia knows this story all too well, especially as of recent.

Carson Wentz was driven out of town because he landed on the wrong side of two QB competitions. The first one came from Wentz's injury and Nick Foles' Super Bowl success in 2018. The other was just last season, when the organization decided that Jalen Hurts would take the QB1 spot over Wentz. But now, with Gardner Minshew in the mix, things are getting complicated…again.

It's no secret that Minshew had a solid performance in the Eagles' Week 13 win against the Jets. He filled in for Hurts, who was out with an ankle injury. Minshew threw for 242 passing yards and two touchdowns in the 33-18 win, and now fans and the media are spiraling into the drama. However, Eagles Hall of Famer Brian Westbrook had a good point, tweeting this on Tuesday morning:

Just because your back up QB played well, doesn't mean there as to be a QB controversy !!

The former star running back has a point. The backup quarterback came in and helped the team win because the starter wasn't able to. Isn't that his job? It seems that every time the Birds see this narrative, they think back to Foles in 2018. Philadelphia also seems to thrive with the underdog persona, which is the perfect narrative for a backup quarterback turned QB1. But, if that's the case, why don't they put that same energy into Hurts? Isn't that what he did?
