Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is having a nice season but there is one big blemish, he has fumbling issues. Wentz has seven fumbles in six games with five of them being lost to the opponents. He has fumbled in every game so far this year, and even though he missed the first two games of the year he has the third most fumbles in the NFL.

“It's part of the game,” Wentz said this week via the Philly Daily News. “Every one is kind of its own thing. I never want to say, ‘It's part of the game, it happens' – I want to clean it up. But at the same time, each is such an individualized play and case. Overall, just have to be better with that and get the ball out quicker in some of those situations.”

The biggest problem for Wentz is not all the fumbles have been the same. There has been some that have been when he is throwing, and some have been blindside hits, and even though they aren't all his fault they still have to be considered concerning. Quarterbacks coach Press Taylor knows it's something Wentz needs to work on, but also wants him to continue to be aggressive.

“We don't want to take his stinger away,” quarterbacks coach Press Taylor said. “We want him to continue to be aggressive, push the ball down the field at the right times. That's another thing – understanding maybe a first- and second-down call is not a time to hold the ball and extend. Third down, he kind of does what he does sometimes, and makes a play…

“But just being aware where he is in the pocket, what the situation of the game is, and then ultimately, ball security is the No. 1 thing so we're going to continue to harp on that.”

The Eagles play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night football and against a good defense Wentz is going to need to work hard on protecting the ball and not turning it over.
