It's the next man up mentality in Philadelphia. In the first quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles' playoff tilt with the Seattle Seahawks, quarterback Carson Wentz headed to the locker room.

Wentz went into the Eagles' locker room after being evaluated for a concussion. He did so after being hit on the back of his head by Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney at the end of the play. He immediately went to the blue medical tent then into the locker room.

The Eagles shortly after announced that Wentz is questionable to return with a head injury.

Josh McCown is in for Wentz. The Eagles plucked the 40-year-old journeyman quarterback out of retirement after a slew of injuries struck their backup passer rotation in the preseason. Since then, he's acted as the No. 2 in Philadelphia, going 3 of 5 passing for 60 yards in the process.

Wentz left his playoffs debut with a stat line that read 1-of-4 passing for three yards.

Of course, the Eagles are not new to the feeling of playing a backup quarterback in the playoffs. In 2017, they saw Wentz tear his ACL amid an MVP season. The backup, Nick Foles led the Eagles to the franchise's first Super Bowl win. The next season, Wentz sustained a season-ending back injury, to which Foles came in and won a playoff game.

The Eagles are holding out hope that Wentz will be back. However, considering the concussion rules in the NFL, it's tough to envision the process to get him back on the field will be easy or quick.
