New Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz made sure to honor the Philadelphia Eagles in a heartfelt Instagram tribute on Friday. Shortly after the swap that sent a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional second-round pick in 2022 to the Eagles in exchange for Wentz was made official, the 28-year-old signal-caller had nothing but praises for the NFL franchise he only knew.

Here's the lengthy, tear-jerking Instagram post:

It wasn't that long ago that Carson Wentz was widely deemed as the Eagles' saviour at quarterback when they selected him second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. He accomplished a lot in his four-year tenure in the City of Brotherly Love, leading his team to the title in Superbowl LII, although he didn't play in the big game due to an injury. He also made the Pro-Bowl in 2017 and Second-Team All-Pro the same year. At one point in 2018, Wentz was even ranked third overall in the NFL Top 100 Players that year.

But the injuries started to pile up since then, causing a major drop in Wentz's production. It got so bad in the 2020 season that Wentz was ultimately benched by the Eagles in Week 13 in favor of back-up rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts. He lost the starting role in Week 14 as Hurts took on the position full time.

He finished with career-lows in completion percentage, yards, and total touchdowns, as well as a career-high 15 interceptions in what would be his final season in Philadelphia. Now given a fresh start in Indianapolis, Wentz looks to revive his once-promising career and regain his status as one of the best signal-callers in the game.
