All signs point towards Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz not playing in the teams first preseason game and that isn't something he seems too worried about. Wentz said after Tuesday's practice that preseason can be helpful, but he doesn't think it's necessary and no matter if he plays or not, he will be ready when the Eagles start the regular season against the Washington Redskins.

“Preseason’s helpful, but I don’t think it’s a necessity,” Wentz said after practice via NBC Sports. “No matter how much I’m out there I’ll be confident in Week 1. … I think a little bit is helpful. But it’s definitely never needed.”

Wentz hasn't played since December 9th when he was shut down for the rest of the year because of injury. Wentz said either way if the team wants to play him or sit him, he is okay with the decision and he will be ready when called upon.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said there are both negatives and positives to playing him during the preseason.

“Obviously, (the reason) for (playing him) is it’s been a while since he’s been on the field and want to get him that feel of being back on the grass again in a competitive live situation,” he said. “And then obviously the reason for holding him is (to) still evaluate Nate and some of the other quarterbacks with Cody and Clayton, so those are the things we’re working through.”

It's clear Pederson is still weighing the different options for the preseason and it might be a week to week decision.
