Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has gone through his fair share of physical setbacks. He famously suffered a torn ACL prior to the team's recent Super Bowl title run. Last year, he had a mysterious fracture in his back. But with no more lingering injuries, Carson Wentz was able to focus more on one thing – packing muscle.

As reported by NBC Sports, Wentz recently appeared in front of media members via video conference. It was apparently evident to everyone in attendance that the QB had been wearing down his weights at home.

“The last couple of offseasons, I was dealing with injuries and trying to bounce back from injuries,” Wentz said, via Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “This offseason, I was really able to get after it and work out a little harder in my gym and all those things. I haven’t gained anything insane weight-wise. But I have definitely gained some weight. I feel really good with where I’m at.”

The motivation for his strength training is linked to what Wentz cited as his biggest area of improvement. Last season, the four-year pro held the unenviable distinction of having the second-most quarterback fumbles. The Eagles QB had 16 such giveaways, second only to the New York Giants' then-rookie Daniel Jones. He emphasized that he was going to be “hard on myself” to maintain the discipline to cut down on those miscues.

With the extra pounds he's put on, Carson Wentz may be able to take harder hits this year. He's going to need every edge he can get to carry his team back to the heights they reached in 2018 without him.
