It's officially the Josh McCown show at The Linc. The 40-year-old quarterback will now finish the Philadelphia Eagles' wild card bout with the Seattle Seahawks, as starter Carson Wentz will not return, as NBC announced, due to a possible concussion.

Wentz went into the Eagles’ locker room after being evaluated for a concussion. He did so after being hit on the back of his head by Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney at the end of the play. The third-year quarterback immediately went to the blue medical tent then into the locker room.

The Eagles shortly after announced that Wentz is questionable to return with a head injury. In the third quarter, the team announced that they have downgraded to out.

Wentz earned his first career playoff start on Sunday. He went 1-of-4 passing for three yards before sustaining the injury.

If McCown sustains an injury, the Eagles could use a wide receiver at quarterback. Receiver Greg Ward, a star quarterback at the University of Houston, once converted to running routes. It's possible they could briefly convert him back to beat the Seahawks.

Wentz's teams have been to the playoffs three times, but he has never finished a postseason game. In 2017, amid an MVP-worthy season, he tore an ACL before getting there. His backup Nick Foles proceeded to lead the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory. He suffered a back injury the next year, then saw Foles win a playoff game in his absence.

Wentz's troubling history of injuries should be concerning.
