The Philadelphia Eagles had a big win on Monday night against the Washington Redskins to keep their playoff hopes alive, but according to Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports, even with the victory, their season is still over.

Cowherd started off his rant talking about exactly why he thought it was over. He points out that the Eagles dominated every statistic and still had a hard time putting away the Redskins for most of the game.

“Philadelphia won 28-13 last night, their season's over. Well, it's not officially over, but Philadelphia's season is over. How do I know that? Because they had 28-10 first-down advantage, double the yards, averaged almost twice as much per pass, double the time of possession, and were 3-5 in the red zone. And struggled for 75% of that game to put away Mark Sanchez and the Washington Redskins. It's over.”

Cowherd next rips into the coaching staff of the Eagles under Doug Pederson, or the lack of one now that the Frank Reich and John DeFilippo are off the staff. Cowherd talks about the book that Pederson wrote about winning the Super Bowl and how the first chapters better be about hiring a good staff.

“What does Philadelphia do well? Not much. First two-game winning streak of the year. Here's what happened, and this is why coaching matters. In the NBA, Lebron is a semi-coach. In Major League Baseball, the general manager is a semi-coach. In the NFL, the coach is the coach. And Philadelphia lost Frank Reich (Indianapolis) and John DeFilippo to Minnesota, and they've never replaced them. Doug Pederson wrote a book after winning the Super Bowl, ‘How to Win the Super Bowl.' I hope chapter one was, ‘Hire a Really Good Offensive Coordinator,' and chapter two was, “‘Have a Really Good Assistant Under the Offensive Coordinator, and Pray They Don't Leave.' Because they left, and they are not the same team.”

Cowherd finishes the rant talking about how the Dallas Cowboys will have their way with the Eagles this weekend and that will really be the end of their playoff hopes.

The Eagles and Cowboys do face off on Sunday and Cowherd is right, it probably is a must-win game to keep the hope alive, and winning the game is going to be very difficult. The Cowboys defense has been playing lights out, and if the Eagles want a chance to win this game, it's going to take a special effort from Carson Wentz.
