Overcoming adversity is nothing new for Philadelphia Eagles running back Corey Clement. After going undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, he was eventually signed by the Eagles and won the Super Bowl LII in his rookie season. Coming off two-straight season-ending injuries, Clement is raring to overcome his latest hurdle yet.

Feedback from the coaching staff of the Eagles was shared by an article posted by LehighValleyLive.com:

“He’s got his ears pinned back,” assistant head coach/running backs coach Duce Staley said Friday. “He looks awesome, you can tell he’s been working. He wants to get back to the old Corey.”

“Corey, when he’s been healthy — obviously that’s been a bit of a challenge unfortunately for him — but when he’s been healthy, he’s really been a great special teams player for us,” Fipp said. “We put together a lot of cut-ups, a lot of film of examples of guys doing really well in the past, so players can watch those, and he’s on a bunch of those films. Just an example of how to play plays and situations for us from the time he’s been with us.”

Clement was placed on injured reserve on December 11, 2018, after suffering a knee injury in Week 14. He finished the 2018 season with a limited production of 259 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

The former Wisconsin product spent most of his time on special teams in the first four games of the 2019 season before he was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury on October 11, 2019. The Eagles chose not to place a restricted free agent tender on him following the 2019 season, and eventually became a free agent on March 18, 2020.

Despite not being tendered by the Eagles as a restricted free agent, on April 29, he came back and re-signed with the team on a one-year deal. The gamble on the injury-riddled player seems to be gradually paying off for the Eagles.

Now in healthy condition, Clement looks to return to his 2017 playing form where he played a crucial role in the team's offense. His presence and contribution will ultimately help the Eagles' bid to defend their NFC East title in the upcoming season.
